Great Danes are among the most euthanized large breeds in California. Not because they're unadoptable. Because they're expensive to treat, and most rescues can't absorb the cost.
We can.
Goodest is a foster-based rescue built for the hard cases. Femur fractures. Heartworm. Untreated dental disease. Dogs pulled off the euthanasia list with a surgery already scheduled. Every dog goes straight from the shelter into a vetted family home. No kennel, no facility, no lease. One hundred percent of program dollars go to veterinary care and to the families fostering these dogs while they heal.
Since November 2025, we've pulled 72 Great Danes out of high-kill shelters across California. The average dog costs about $1,500 in veterinary care and reaches a permanent home in 23 days. Some cost far more. Wilson came in as a street pickup with ten masses and a suture infection no other rescue was going to pay to fix. We said yes anyway. That's the whole model.
We run on three commitments. Fewer dogs, so we know each one by name. Known dogs, so we can tell you exactly who you're helping. Open books, so you can see where every dollar goes.
Your donation is a Great Dane off the euthanasia list and into a living room. That's it. That's the work.
