Forest Park Conservancy (FPC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, restoring, and preserving two of Portland’s most treasured natural spaces: Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park. Together, these parks span more than 5,400 acres of urban wilderness, providing critical habitat for wildlife, essential ecological benefits, and a green haven for the community. These spaces are vital to our city’s identity, offering recreational opportunities, improved air and water quality, and a direct connection to nature for everyone who calls Portland home.
Our work is guided by a long-term vision to ensure these parks thrive for generations. Through initiatives like the Greater Forest Park Conservation Initiative, we focus on habitat restoration, invasive species removal, and wildfire risk reduction, protecting the ecological health of the parks. FPC organizes hundreds of volunteers each year to maintain trails, restore natural habitats, and complete vital conservation work with a small staff and limited resources.
In addition to our stewardship efforts, we connect the community to these natural spaces through free, accessible programming. From guided nature walks and photography classes to basket weaving and yoga, our Nature Education program offers opportunities for everyone to deepen their relationship with nature. We also work collaboratively with local organizations and public agencies to improve park signage and accessibility.
Forest Park Conservancy is committed to building a more inclusive future by making nature accessible to all. Every dollar you give supports essential work to keep Forest Park and Marquam Nature Park healthy, vibrant, and welcoming for everyone.
Join us in protecting these vital urban oases that we all love.
