Employ America

We founded Employ America in 2019 to confront the policy failures following the Global Financial Crisis. Deteriorating economic conditions demanded bold action, but Washington’s policy response fell far short. Those who found work often faced depressed wages, and millions exited the labor force altogether. Investment was stifled, and productivity growth stalled. Business shuttered, and closures hollowed out entire industries and regions. 

Policymakers learned from past mistakes and prevented another jobless recovery after the COVID pandemic shock, but chronic underinvestment began to show in the form of shortages, supply chain bottlenecks, and inflation. 

Today, a weakening labor market, shifts in global energy demand, and rising geopolitical and trade tensions require policymakers to address challenges from all fronts. America needs a holistic economic policy toolkit that is robust to frequent shocks, a government capable of using those tools quickly and effectively, and the political consensus required to preserve those tools through changing electoral and political cycles.
