Educate Lanka envisions a world in which opportunities are universal for every young person regardless of their background or circumstances. Incorporated both in the United States and in Sri Lanka, Educate Lanka's on a mission to enhance access to equitable and inclusive opportunities for children and youth from marginalized backgrounds so they could empower themselves and maximize their potential in learning, work, and life.
By addressing the prevailing systemic learning and skills gaps through a unique combination of digital technology and social-private partnership models, Educate Lanka seeks to realize its vision of a skilled, equitable, and inclusive workforce and an empathetic and responsible citizenry through two (2) complementary interventions:
1). A proprietary online peer-to-peer education financing model that enables individual and collective benefactors from around the world to directly fund the out-of-pocket educational expenses of motivated, yet marginalized learners through long-term micro-scholarships.
2). A unique social-private partnership model that provides children and youth with quality learning opportunities in the form of mentoring, project-based skills training, and connections to professional networks and workforce opportunities.
The Nishantha Fund:
In 2019, Educate Lanka responded to the tragic event of the Easter Bombings in Sri Lanka by co-creating the Nishantha Fund - a fund dedicated to empower the survivors of the attack by addressing their long-term education needs while advancing education as a weapon to counter the extremism, hate, and violence. Through its long-term impact, it envisions a Sri Lanka where children and youth from diverse backgrounds and demographics will all learn and prosper together in a peaceful, empathic, and tolerant society that embraces and promotes diversity and inclusion. https://nishanthafund.educatelanka.org/
