When children and youth in Contra Costa County enter the foster care system, they face tremendous uncertainty—often without a stable adult to guide or advocate for them.
Child Advocates of Contra Costa County ensures that these young people are seen, heard, and supported through every step of their journey.
Our Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers work one-on-one with children and youth in foster care, ensuring they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal system or placed in unsafe or unstable environments.
In addition to advocacy, we’re proud to offer additional programs that meet the diverse needs of the youth we serve:
- Tutor Program: Provides high-quality, consistent, and accessible educational support to children and youth using volunteers trained in trauma-informed practices. These volunteers offer one-on-one tutoring that helps students stay on track, build confidence, and achieve high school graduation.
- Juvenile Justice Program: Connects CASA volunteers with youth in the juvenile justice system (who are also foster youth) to ensure compliance with probation requirements and complete their education.
- Reproductive Health Program: Working in partnership with the County’s Department of Public Health and Children & Family Services to provide education, guidance, and access to reproductive health care for foster youth.
Together, these programs empower young people to overcome adversity, break cycles of poverty and incarceration, and build brighter futures.
