WHO WE ARE
Since 1987, Bukas Palad has been serving marginalized children and families in Cebu, Philippines, by providing access to quality education, skills development, and healthcare—while fostering supportive and caring communities.
Cebu’s urban slums are home to thousands of families seeking better opportunities but facing harsh realities: hunger, low education, poor hygiene, malnutrition, school dropouts, drugs, exploitation, and disease. These challenges are deeply interconnected.
In response, Bukas Palad Cebu offers a community-based approach rooted in the vision of *“being a family united in building universal brotherhood”***, upholding each person's dignity. Our mission is to build mutual relationships where *“no one is so poor they cannot give, and no one so rich they cannot receive.”***
WHAT WE DO
Bukas Palad Cebu supports the development of each person’s full potential—empowering them to transform their families and communities.
Our Objectives:
- Support underprivileged children through schooling up to college or vocational training, within a nurturing community.
- Provide early childhood care and development for 3- and 4-year-olds, addressing their full range of needs.
- Offer holistic formation programs for students and parents to encourage personal and communal growth.
- Promote community-based healthcare initiatives focused on prevention.

Response to Cebu 2025 earthquake
This campaign is to raise funds for disaster relief and response efforts currently focused on the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck on September 30, devastating communities in Northern Cebu—particularly Bogo City, Medellin, San Remegio and Daanbantayan. The quake has claimed at least 69 lives, injured more than 200, and left homes and schools in ruins. Bukas Palad Cebu is responding together with other local groups to providing emergency assistance and critical aid to the victims.

Every day, children and families in our communities face challenges that no one should have to endure—lack of access to education, health care, and basic necessities. Many of our students dream of going to college. They are bright, hardworking, and determined to build a better future—not only for themselves, but for their families and communities. Yet, their biggest obstacle is not motivation, but money. With your support, we can open the doors of higher education to these deserving young people.
