The BITSAA Alumni Trust was established in 2005 by the alumni of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS). The Trusts flagship program, Project AtmaNirbhara, and the Pilani Resource Center (PRC) seeks to transform the lives of the communities in and around Pilani through providing opportunities for education, health, and employability. AtmaNirbhara provides a platform to attract NGOs, philanthropists and individuals to improve the lives of the underprivileged around Pilani - by leveraging the wisdom, skills and connections of global BITS Alumni. AtmaNirbhara platform has become a social Startup incubator attracting Women’s legal cell (helping with cases of domestic violence, sexual harassment, child marriages etc.), Development of organic pesticides tuned for local conditions (funded by CSIR), Computer literacy training (CEERI and BITS students), Water harvesting and Drip Irrigation (Sustainable Innovations) and Coaching for competitive examinations (by BITS students). In addition, periodic Eye and Health Camps are organized in collaboration with the local hospitals where surgeries have benefitted over 700 people.
Current fundraising aims to strengthen and scale up current operations and expand the platform for many new project proposals. Please join us in making the local population more self-reliant by pledging your contribution to this worthy cause and becoming part of the AtmaNirbhara global alumni.
