Animal Place operates two sanctuaries - a 600-acre sanctuary in Grass Valley, California home to 400 permanent residents and a 12-acre rescue & adoption center in Petaluma, California.

Each year, Animal Place rescues thousands of hens from egg farms before they are killed. Birds are brought to the Rescue & Adoption Center (RAC) where they undergo rehabilitation before placement into pre-screened, adoptive homes. Your donation of $25 can free one hen from a farm and provide her with two weeks of care.

At our main sanctuary, 400 chickens, cows, pigs, sheep, turkeys, goats, donkeys, and bunnies live out their lives in tranquility and peace. Your donation provides feed for the animals, bedding, and veterinary care. An $18 donation feeds one bag of chicken crumbles to the 200 chickens at the sanctuary. Or, your $23 donation buys the cows a bale of hay.

To create systemic change, Animal Place's Food for Thought program invites animal shelters and environmental organizations to adopt plant-based menu policies for their events. Hundreds of organizations have taken the pledge to provide plant-based meals at their events.
