Meet Lola ❤️ Just four months old, Lola was hit by a car and left on the road for two long days. By the time we reached her, the bone was sticking out of her leg, and her tiny body was covered in maggot eggs. She was weak, in unbearable pain, and on the brink of giving up. She was rushed into emergency surgery, and one back leg was so badly damaged it had to be amputated. Her other leg was put in a cast and we are trying our best to save it. The prognosis, however, is not very good, and she may need another surgery to amputate that leg too. Through it all, Lola has shown an incredible will to live. Today, she is learning to adapt, balancing on her front legs, and showing us every day just how much strength a little soul can carry. Whether she keeps one back leg or none, Lola will need lifelong rehabilitation and medical care at our sanctuary , where she will be safe, loved, and given every chance at a happy, long life. What began as a moment of compassion, became our life’s purpose. We are Sejal and Shraddha, two sisters who moved to picturesque Goa in search of a quieter life. But destiny had other plans. Our journey began with the heart-breaking cries of a small, helpless puppy. Tied up in a yard with a rough, short rope, this tiny pup was beaten regularly. Despite everything we did, we couldn’t save him, and it felt like the world had turned its back on him - and on us. In that moment, we realized that there was no support system in Goa for animals in need. Clinics closed by 5 p.m., and a handful of charitable NGOs were overflowing. We couldn’t live with the knowledge that nothing could be done, and that’s when we decided to be the change. From that painful experience, Angels for Animals (AFA) was born. Since then, AFA has successfully neutered over 5,000 animals and provided medical care to more than 1,800 rescued or injured animals at our hospital and sanctuary in Corjuem, North Goa. We receive about 15-20 calls a day for all kinds of assistance - dogs hit by vehicles, cats attacked by dogs, abandoned pets suffering from starvation, and animals facing unimaginable cruelty. Each case reminds us why we exist: to give them a chance to heal, recover, and live with dignity. At our centre, we have full in-house facilities: a fully equipped Operation Theatre, X-ray machine, blood test lab, and post-operative care units. This allows us to handle emergency surgeries, diagnostics, and long-term rehabilitation for animals under our care. Why We Need You With the increasing number of critical cases, we face growing financial challenges. We provide medical treatment, nutritious food, supplements, and lots of love for each animal under our care. Many require additional support like special medications or mobility aids. Every month, we stretch our resources to the limit. Our team is on the ground, responding to distress calls that demand intensive care, surgical intervention, and rehabilitation. Without immediate support, we risk not being able to respond to every call.
