Jawonio Foundation, Inc

The Jawonio Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation whose purpose is to provide funds to support critical services for children, adults and families with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges and chronic medical needs.  

Founded in 1992, the Jawonio Foundation provides essential fundraising and resources to support programs and services for children and adults with special needs throughout the Mid-Hudson region in NYS. Funds raised impact program innovation and enhancements for the lifespan services of Jawonio Inc. in both Rockland and Westchester Counties, in addition to similar organizations who align with our mission. We solicit and receive funds from individuals and private foundations, and accept gifts through charitable trusts, IRAs, stock, monthly giving, fundraising events and direct appeals. 

Foundation funds are used to provide program enhancements and unfunded activities such as social, recreational, and creative arts experiences as well as equipment and supplies. We rely on the compassion, trust and generosity of our donors who help to make miracles happen every day for individuals with special needs and the larger community.

Jawonio Inc was founded in 1947 and is the premiere provider of lifespan services in the Mid-Hudson Region of New York State, for people with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges and chronic medical conditions. Jawonio is dedicated to promoting the independence, equality and well-being of people with special needs. Orginally founded by seven families who believed in the potential of their children with cerebral palsy to lead full and productive lives, the organization has grown and innovated services that support 3,000 people annually through a wide array of services including: early childhood education - early intervention, special education preschool, extended school year summer educatio program and clinical therapies, for adults - day habilitation, prevocational, vocational and employment supports, residential, mental health, care management as well as social enterprise businesses that employ people with disabilities: the Jawonio Cleaning Company and Brick-it-Again LEGO resale store.
