Village In The Valley
Elevating and uniting the Black community while connecting cultures in the Rio Grande Valley
ViVa is founded on four pillars to enrich the relationships among the black community. The pillars also serve as a conduit to connect blacks to the Rio Grande Valley and vice versa. The pillars:
1) Community – fosters service, relationship building & civic duty
2) Economic Development – financial literacy, wellness & economic growth
3) Personal Growth – personal value, self-awareness, mental health & overall wellness
4) Education – career, cultural diversity, scholarships, entrepreneurship & black history
Each one of these pillars is foundational to elevate people for sustainability, growth and integration. Thus, not only does it take the black “village” to raise a child, it also takes the diligence of members in the community to ensure the success of all our children. The end result will create a mutual respect of our cultural differences and understanding of our similarities.
