The Resource Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in the Western North Region Ghana, working at the intersection of forest restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. Our mission is to address urgent climate challenges deforestation, land degradation, and biodiversity loss through locally driven solutions that empower rural communities. We focus our work in forest-fringe and high-risk landscapes affected by illegal mining, illegal lodging, wildfire, and unsustainable farming. Through participatory forest restoration, agroforestry, and community-based natural resource management, TRF has directly supported the regeneration of over 512 hectares of degraded land. We have trained 400 smallholder cocoa farmers in climate-smart agriculture, improved land tenure security through co-management models, and strengthened sustainable value chains. Our approach is rooted in deep community trust. Our team lives and works within the very forest district we serve in Juaboso, Bia West, Sefwi Wiawso, and surrounding forest landscapes. We engage local leaders, youth, women’s groups, and schools not just as beneficiaries, but as co-creators of every initiative. From project planning to monitoring and learning, community voice and leadership shape our outcomes. TRF’s impact goes beyond ecological restoration we also improve livelihoods. Through 80 Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs), we’ve expanded economic opportunities for rural women and youth. Our work improves food security, protects biodiversity, and strengthens social cohesion, all while addressing the root causes of environmental degradation. Looking ahead, we aim to scale up by restoring 1,000 hectares of forest and degraded land across the Western North and Ahafo Regions. We are expanding our tree nursery network, farmer training programs, and GIS-based landscape monitoring systems. Our multidisciplinary team brings expertise in forestry, agroecology, gender equity, geospatial science.

HELP RESTORE LAKE BOSOMTWE, ASHANTI REGION, GHANA
Plant Trees. Protect the Lake. Empower Communities. Help us restore degraded areas around Lake Bosomtwe and protect a natural treasure for future generations. In Ghana’s Ashanti Region lies Lake Bosomtwe, Ghana’s only natural lake and one of the most remarkable crater lakes in the world. Beyond its extraordinary natural history, the lake is deeply connected to the culture, livelihoods and identity of communities living around it. Lake Bosomtwe supports fishing, farming, tourism and other livelihoods, while its surrounding landscape provides important ecological services. The lake and its surrounding ecosystem are also recognised internationally through the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve designation. But this precious landscape is under growing pressure. Over the years, the Lake Bosomtwe watershed has experienced significant land use and vegetation changes. Research has documented substantial forest-cover loss and increasing conversion of natural areas to agricultural and built-up land. More recent research has also identified links between land-use change and increasing environmental pressures affecting the lake’s water quality. When vegetation around the lake is lost, the consequences can extend far beyond the immediate area. Degraded land can become more vulnerable to erosion and can place additional pressure on the lake ecosystem, biodiversity and the communities whose livelihoods depend on this landscape. But restoration has already begun. The Resource Foundation Ghana (TRF Ghana), working together with Bosomtwe Community Resource Management Area (CREMA), has begun planting trees in degraded areas around Lake Bosomtwe. This is a community-led effort to restore vegetation, strengthen environmental stewardship and encourage local ownership of the protection of this important landscape. Now, we want to do more, and we need your help. YOUR DONATION CAN HELP US PLANT MORE TREES We are raising funds to expand restoration activities along degraded areas around Lake Bosomtwe. Your contribution can help support: Tree planting and restoration: Planting and nurturing trees to help restore degraded areas and improve vegetation cover. Long-term tree care: Supporting maintenance and community stewardship so that planted trees have the opportunity to survive and grow. Community environmental monitoring: Helping local communities participate in identifying environmental threats and monitoring restoration areas. Community engagement and education: Strengthening awareness and local participation in protecting the lake and its surrounding ecosystem. Why your support matters You are not simply helping us plant trees. You are helping restore a landscape that sustains people, nature and future generations. Every tree planted is a step towards restoring degraded land. Every community member engaged is another person who can become a steward of the lake. Every contribution brings us closer to a healthier and more resilient Lake Bosomtwe landscape. OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL We aim to raise US$ 40,000 to plant and nurture 10,000 trees and restore 8 hectares of degraded land around Lake Bosomtwe. Your support, whether US$10, US$25, US$50, US$100, US$250, or more, can help us expand this community-led restoration effort. Give something back to Lake Bosomtwe. For generations, Lake Bosomtwe has provided communities with food, livelihoods, cultural identity, and a place of extraordinary natural beauty. Now, we have an opportunity to give something back. Stand with TRF Ghana and Bosomtwe CREMA. Help us plant more trees. Help us restore degraded land. Help us strengthen community stewardship. Help us protect Lake Bosomtwe for generations to come.
