Support Mental Health Care For Tanzanian Youth
Every year, more than 15 million young people in Tanzania face depression, anxiety, and deep loneliness. Most suffer in silence, with nowhere to turn.
The burden is massive and often invisible:
- 1 in 7 adolescents live with a mental health disorder
- Just 0.01 psychologists per 100,000 people in the country
- 13% of youth show mild depression, 2% moderate
- 1 in 5 students report psychological distress
- Only 1.31 mental health workers per 100,000 people across Tanzania
These are not just numbers. They represent millions of young people left without support in a system where mental health is treated as optional instead of essential.
This is where we come in. AHADI is Tanzania’s first hybrid mental health facility. We combine digital tools: The Ahadi App, SMS helpline (15061), and hotline (199) — with in-person outreach through schools, universities, and a growing network of community health workers. This model meets youth where they are and bridges the gap between despair and hope.
Your support will help us:
- Expand safe meet-up points where young people can talk without fear
- Grow our network of trained community health workers
- Strengthen our digital platforms so no call or message goes unanswered
- Build smarter referral tools to connect youth to the right level of care faster
When a young person reaches out in panic or fear, we want their call to be the start of recovery, not the end of the line.
Join us. Give today and help turn these numbers into real change.
Every $10–$15 helps one young Tanzanian access stigma-free mental health support through AHADI. With $150,000, we can reach up to 15,000 yearly.
