With your support, we will free whales from life-threatening entanglements, heal injured seals to bound joyfully back to the sea, and champion protections for endangered species.
Here is what we do every day with your help!
RESPONSE
SR³'s expert first responders provide year-round emergency field response for sick, injured, and entangled marine animals. This includes animals like the humpback whale found off the tip of the Olympic Peninsula. Bound so tightly in fishing gear, moving was almost impossible. SR³'s first responders and partners were able to free the whale to swim safely away.
REHABILITATION
In fall 2020, SR³ will open the first marine wildlife specialty hospital in the Pacific Northwest. This hospital will enable the rehabilitation and release of many marine animals who currently have no options for care in the region.
RESEARCH
Marine animals act as early warning signals of environmental threats to human health. By identifying the causes of illness or injury in marine wildlife, SR³ monitors ocean health and drives conservation efforts. A major focus of our research is the study of endangered Southern Resident killer whales to inform conservation efforts critical to their survival.
With your support, SR³ will continue making the Pacific Northwest a safer and healthier home for marine animals - and for all of us!
