Breaking the cycle of poverty

From the Atacama Desert to Skilled Mechanics: One Full Class

From the Atacama Desert to Skilled Mechanics: One Full Class, 20 Mothers braking the cycle of poverty

In northern Chile’s Atacama Desert, the mining industry drives growth—but access to skilled employment doesn’t reach everyone equally.

At SoyMás Foundation, we’re launching a new initiative to break the cycle of poverty by training 20 young mothers as industrial mechanics, aligned directly with the needs of the mining and copper sector in Antofagasta.

* $2,500 trains one mother (10 months program)
* $50,000 funds one full class
* Eligible for employer matching and corporate ESG programs

This is not charity.
It’s local talent development, gender inclusion, and long-term workforce resilience in one of the world’s toughest environments to live and raise a family.

If you work in mining, engineering, energy, or supply chains—and your company uses Benevity or corporate giving platforms—your support can create real, measurable impact.
