Dear Friends, In the wake of a century of acquisitions, the Cernuschi Museumhas a major project with the entry into its collections of an ink painting by Gao Xingjian, Nobel Prize for literature and a key figure in the cultural relationship betweenChina and France. Gao's contributions to literature and visual arts are of the first order in the cultural and artistic circlesthe world over. We have the exceptional opportunity for the American Friends to acquire a masterpiece ,« Dark Moon », for the museum. This work, which combines symbolism as well as abstraction through the tonal richness that ink offers, comes within the long history of Chinese traditional painting.
