Sister Song has been leading the fight for reproductive justice for Black women, Indigenous women and women of color in the South for almost 30 years. With abortion bans robbing women of their bodily autonomy across the United States, Sister Song's work has become more urgent than ever. Black women already faced terrifying disparate maternal health outcomes prior to the Dobbs decision. In the 3 years since, health inequality in this country has only gotten deadlier.

I am not a Black woman and I am not from the South, but I know that if Sister Song thrives, so will I. True justice strengthens the health, autonomy, and dignity of entire communities including my own. When Black women, who have long been at the forefront of this movement, gain greater freedom and access, we will have created a world that expands rights, safety, and equity for everyone. Like Fannie Lou Hamer, a brilliant Black Southern female organizer said, "Nobody's free until everybody's free."
