Running the Capetown marathon for Kenyan Children's Hospital

Raised
$500
Goal
$2,400

I remember caring for children with cancer when I was a resident at Oakland Children's hospital. It was heartbreaking to partner with families navigating life-threatening illness, while trying to maintain some normalcy for their children. With child life therapists, occupational and physical therapists, pediatric nurses and doctors all dedicated to healing children, we saw a lot of success. From the pharmacists preparing the chemotherapy at child-sized doses, to the kitchen preparing the appealing children's meals, having a dedicated space for children with cancer made life possible for many of these children and families. After my own stroke, I've seen how important it is to have the support of a knowledgeable team dedicated to wellness.

Imagine living in a nation without a single hospital dedicated to the care of children with cancer. That is why I am running the Capetown marathon in May 2026--to build Kenya's first hospital for children with cancer.

As you know, I've run for years to bring clean water to the people, including bringing clean water into the health centers. Now I am running to bring a health center to the most vulnerable. Won't you join me?
