Help Build Hospitals and Health in Africa!

As a Cardiologist based in the USA, I spend my days treating heart conditions and advocating for healthier lives. But I know that access to quality healthcare isn't equal around the world—especially for children in sub-Saharan Africa, where preventable and treatable illnesses still claim too many young lives.

That's why I'm lacing up for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and fundraising for Shoe4Africa. This incredible charity has already built and gifted the first public children's hospital in East and Central Africa—the Shoe4Africa Children's Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya. It's the second dedicated public children's hospital in all of sub-Saharan Africa (after the Red Cross Children's Hospital right here in Cape Town), and it has treated over a million children since opening in 2015, providing advanced pediatric care, surgery, and training for the next generation of African healthcare professionals.

Now, they're expanding into a full Children's Health Village, including sub-Saharan Africa's first public children's cancer hospital—because today, far too many kids diagnosed with cancer in the region don't survive without specialized facilities like this.

Running through the stunning streets of Cape Town, home to Africa's only other public children's hospital, feels profoundly meaningful. It's a full-circle moment on this continent, turning my miles into support for building lifesaving healthcare where it's needed most.
