The END Fund is the only private philanthropic initiative solely dedicated to ending the most common neglected tropical diseases.

Our Mission: To control and eliminate the most prevalent neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) among the world's most vulnerable communities and people by 2030. 


NTDs are a group of parasitic and bacterial diseases largely prevalent in tropical regions that currently receive little attention on the global health agenda yet have a significant impact hampering the potential of individuals and communities at large. The devastating effects of NTDs include irreversible blindness, severe disfigurement, stunted cognitive and physical development, especially in children, malnutrition, social isolation, and more. NTDs also cause 170,000 deaths per year. Their comprehensive impact on all aspects of daily life means that the presence of NTDs costs affected countries billions of dollars per year in lost productivity, out-of-pocket expenses, and reduced socioeconomic and educational attainment. 

Currently, 1.7b individuals are affected by such diseases. However, the treatments and knowledge required to eliminate these diseases are readily available, with the annual cost of treatment per individual averaging 50 cents per year. Demonstrating the uniquely cost-effective impact of NTD treatment, studies have shown treatment is the single most efficient means of improving children’s school attendance and capacity to learn. A recent report by Deloitte on Nigeria showcases the significant gains affected economies stand to make should NTDs be eliminated, with Nigeria’s economy estimated to receive an $18.9b boost from now until 2030. The END Fund helps ensure those at risk of NTDs need not experience such preventable suffering but can live healthy and prosperous lives instead. We do so by working in close partnership with stakeholders across the global NTD community to identify and fulfill gaps and needs in NTD funding, design programs, strengthen the capacity of local actors, provide technical support, and assist with monitoring and evaluation, amongst various additional activities. Our work helps children stay healthy and in school, prevents advanced cases that cause disability and restrain individuals' productive potential, and alleviates the disproportionate disease burden faced by women and girls, as well as the economic burden of disease on families. We have distributed more than 1.2b treatments since our founding in 2012, with 118m individuals treated in 2021 alone.

We envision living in a world in which all have the opportunity to achieve their full potential, with these diseases that have plagued humans for millennia confined to history once and for all.

Hip Hop Public Health (HHPH) is an internationally recognized 501c3 that harnesses the transformative power of music, culture, and science to improve health literacy and promote health equity in communities of color. We have a 15-year track record of creating culturally relevant science-based content using our evidence-based framework for health promotion and behavior change, the Multisensory Multilevel Health Education Model (MMHEM), and our framework for Child-Mediated Health Communication that focuses on children as messengers for disease prevention and health promotion interventions with parents and caregivers. All of our 200+ educational resources are available to stream and download for free, removing access barriers for teaching, learning and health literacy.

Founded by Dr. Olajide Williams of Columbia University, a world-renowned leader in community based behavioral intervention research, the HHPH transdisciplinary team is a unique collective blending socially conscious creatives along with health and education professionals, nutritionists, public health researchers, physicians, behavioral scientists, and a rotating youth advisory board. HHPH’s founding artist, the legendary Doug E. Fresh, has cultivated an iconic artist advisory board including Darryl DMC McDaniels from Run DMC, Chuck D, Jordin Sparks and Ashanti in addition to multi-platinum music composers and producers.

HHPH’s approach maximizes engagement by facilitating cultural and emotional connections with the content using a variety of platforms and technologies, while earning trust through the use and social capital of credible messengers. Hip hop music is a particularly effective learning tool due to its ability to incorporate multiple literary devices, such as rhymes and spaced repetition which are known to enhance learning and memory. It is also a cultural tool that enables tailoring to certain communities while incorporating credible messengers (hip hop icons, celebrities, etc.) in its delivery. As the most popular genre in the US, hip hop has mass appeal.

StrongMinds provides life-changing mental health services to women in Africa using innovative community-based group therapy.

According to the WHO, depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide, and is a major contributor to the global burden of disease. In Africa, an estimated 66M women have depression and 85% have no access to treatment. Since 2014, StrongMinds has treated over 200,000 individuals for depression symptoms, with 80% measuring as depression-free after therapy. When a woman recovers from depression, she is more engaged in the community and her economic activity increases. Her family eats more meals and her children go to school more often. When you invest in mental health, you invest in the future of an individual, their family, and their community.

The Children's Global Health Fund, supporting Clínica de Familia La Romana.

The Children’s Global Health Fund, Inc., incorporated in 2016 in New York, is a nonprofit charity organization authorized as a tax-exempt entity under the terms of section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Our mission is to save the lives of vulnerable children and families globally by raising funds for and providing support to organizations improving family health in developing countries.
 

The Children’s Global Health Fund’s current development efforts aim to ensure the long-term sustainability of Clínica de Familia La Romana, located in the eastern Dominican Republic. Founded in 1999, Clínica de Familia La Romana is a Dominican non-profit organization aimed at improving the health of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in the region by providing high quality health, education, and psycho-social support services. Clínica de Familia has become a national model for HIV, sexually transmitted infection and adolescent health care, in addition to providing comprehensive and holistic care to the broader community, serving approximately 12,000 clients annually. Through their unique, comprehensive approach, Clínica de Familia La Romana has informed new standards of health care and strengthened access to essential services, improving the quality of life of marginalized populations.   Donations and grants to the Children’s Global Health Fund go directly to Clínica de Familia (with a small administrative fee for the Fund) to support and expand their health programs and reach.
 

Based in New York City, the Children’s Global Health Fund engages in fundraising efforts nationwide, and provides a platform for US-based individuals, foundations and corporations to make tax-deductible financial or in-kind contributions to Clínica de Familia La Romana, as the first beneficiary of the Fund. The Fund also supports Clínica de Familia in cultivating sponsorships, partnerships, and service opportunities involving US-based global health programs and supporters. These collaborations produce tangible support for Clínica de Familia, while offering unique experiences, collaborative research opportunities, philanthropic exposure, and other benefits to the partners.
