Torrential Rain in Kyushu Japan: Support the relief efforts!
August 12, 2025 Update
Heavy Rains in Kyushu — Please Support Our Emergency Appeal!
We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the heavy rain disaster. Rains are still continuing in some areas, so ongoing vigilance is essential.
Due to a weather front, record-breaking heavy rains have hit the entire Kyushu region, including Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Fukuoka, and Nagasaki prefectures. In Kagoshima and Kumamoto, a Special Heavy Rain Warning has been issued, creating life-threatening situations. Throughout the region, river flooding, inundation damage, and landslides have occurred, and the full extent of the damage is not yet clear.
Peace Boat Disaster Relief (PBV) dispatched an advance team on August 9 and has begun our relief efforts. During this initial phase, we are gathering information in collaboration with relevant agencies and other support organizations to assess the damage, available support systems, and what assitance is most needed. We are providing essential material support as it becomes necessary. Going forward, we will continue to implement support activities tailored to the specific needs of the affected communities based on our ongoing assessments.
We are seeking your generous contributions to support our ongoing relief efforts in Kyushu. For your convenience, we offer a variety of donation methods.
