Like so many immigrants, our student started in a service job, building her life in New York City over 12 years. Despite steady income, she lived paycheck-to-paycheck. The problem wasn't her work ethic—it was access to information. With no mentors, she never learned what accounts to open, how to plan for retirement, or which banks welcomed immigrants.
After opening a high-yield savings account and a Roth IRA, she told us: "This is the first time in my life that I feel really calm about money. It feels amazing to have two months of rent saved up."
We’re seeking $30,000 to provide financial coaching to 75 immigrant families this year. Every $400 sponsorship helps one household eliminate predatory fees, build credit, and start investing: creating ripple effects that strengthen entire communities.
