Share the Harvest: Support Food Dignity in Nassau County

Across the country, folks are feeling the effects of government funding reductions. Across the country, communities are rallying to support food dignity. Right here in New York, food pantries and the food insecure are under more and more pressure. Fortunately, people are stepping in to make sure farms are able to donate their produce to school children and vulnerable populations served by food banks.

If you're visiting this page, there's a good chance that you value access to fresh, healthy produce to nourish your family and friends. That's an important reason why we founded and run Orkestai Farm. We couldn't imagine going for very long without fresh produce. And as a 501(c)3 non-profit community-based organization, we recognize that modern life does not often offer feasible paths toward good food and health for so many. As a community farm, it is part of our mission to share our bountiful harvest as inclusively as possible. Since 2020, we're blessed to partner with NOSH, an organization founded during Covid-19 to address food insecurity and injustice. We’ve donated nearly $20,000 worth of produce to them and our produce has been one of their most valued donations. For reasons of perishability and cost, quality donated produce is hard to come by. NOSH has conducted surveys revealing their target population wants fresh produce more than anything else. With food prices cutting into budgets like never before, there has never been a better time to make an impact on your neighbors’s lives.

Here's how your donations will impact your community.

$50 provides a family (of four) with two weeks of Orkestai vegetables.

$100 supplies a family with local fresh organic vegetables for a month.

$250 allows ten families to be nourished by Orkestai grown produce because of your donation.

$500 means five families receive a month's share of vegetables. Imagine how that would transform their summer!

$1,000 benefits 40 families in the area!

Two generous donors have already contributed $1,200. Let's see how quickly we can surpass that!
