Oliver Scholars - Year End Fundraising !
OUR MISSION The mission of the Oliver Scholars Program is to prepare high-achieving Black and
Latinx students from underserved New York City communities for success at top
independent high schools and prestigious colleges. We provide crucial support for
both the Scholars and their families so they can realize their full potential and
ultimately give back to the city, the nation, and the HISTORY Founded in 1984, Oliver Scholars offers academic year and summer youth development programs for academically talented but historically marginalized Black and Latinx students. Specifically, we work with students for 14-months through our rigorous academic preparation program, and then place them in 9th grade at high-performing college preparatory, independent schools -- both day and boarding -- across the country. We provide (1) academic and social preparation prior to high school admission, (2) assistance with the high school placement and financial aid application process, (3) crucial support throughout the four years of high school, including college application and admissions guidance, and (4) ongoing support in college, including guidance for a successful post-graduation transition. Each year, we endeavor to place up to 75 new Scholars, and provide support to another ~229 Scholars currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12 at over 100 partner schools across 10 states.
