Thousands of children in Balochistan spend their days begging on streets or working in dangerous conditions — not because they lack potential, but because poverty has left them no choice. Network for Human and Social Development (NHSD) are changing that, one school at a time.

**About the Project**

We are establishing 4 new free schools in Pashen, Ziarat, Khanuzai, and Khushlaq — bringing our total to 8 schools serving the most vulnerable children in the region. Every child who walks through our doors receives free education, a school uniform, books, daily meals, and a safe space to heal and grow.

**Our Track Record**

NHSD was founded in 2012 and is registered with the Charity Commission of Pakistan, PCP, and EAD. Recognized with the Corporate Humanitarian and Strategic Achievement Shield by the President of Pakistan, we have partnered with over 70 national and international organizations including the Japan Embassy, National Bank of Pakistan (43 vocational centers), Pakistan Bait-ul-Maal, The Citizens Foundation (10 vocational centers), Punjab Skills Development Fund, and Sindh Education Foundation.

We currently educate 700+ students across Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan.

Schools for Street Children in Balochistan!

The Network for Human and Social Development supports Pakistan's most poverty-stricken & socioeconomically deprived communities. 

Network for Human and Social Development is a non-profit non-government organization. It is registered with Pakistan Center of Philanthropy, Islamabad Charity Commission, and Economic Affairs Division. Established on 6 April 2012 NHSD is working in the field of health, disaster management, women empowerment, technical training, and education.

Our current projects are given below

- **NHSD TECHNICAL TRAINING INSTITUTE:** Support for scholarship of students of Diploma in Information Technology, Certificate courses in web design, graphic design, basic computers and clerical documentation. PKR 3000 / student
- **NHSD / KKO SCHOOLS:** Students in our school are provided totally free of cost education in Gulrez and Maskeenabad Rawalpindi as well as Mehar Dadu and Tharparkar in Sindh. Help with rent and running costs is requested.
- **DISASTER RELIEF AND RESPONSE:** NHSD provides services during disasters like earthquakes floods COVID-19 epidemic both in disaster relief and response. These services mainly include: provision of food rations and cooled meals to the most vulnerable and underprivileged communities during disasters. we also distribute warm clothes, quilts, blankets as per the need alongwith medical services.

**OUR BENEFICIARIES**

- To date we have trained more than 3000 apprentices and helped them with job placements.
- Since 2012 we have educated more than 5000 normal and special students providing them with free education, pick and drop, stationary and uniforms.
- During disasters we have provided services in Punjab and Sindh for 1500 families in five villages of Tharparkar, 2000 families in Dadu Sindh, and 4000 families in Punjab during earthquakes and floods.

**SUCCESS STORIES**

- **WASHED AWAY PAKISTAN**: In the months of July and August in the year 2022, Pakistan experienced a period of immense devastation due to severe flooding. During this harrowing period, the resilience of the people was tested to its limits. Hailing from the predominantly Hindu village of Mithrio Charran in the district of Tharparkar, Kim Chand recounted the swift destruction of his mud house by the raging floodwaters. Witnessing their possessions being swept away, Kim Chand and his family found themselves displaced, seeking refuge in an elevated area, uncertain of what the future held.

Amidst the despair, a beacon of hope emerged. Stepping into the fray, NHSD, with the help from King Baudouin Foundation and GlobalGiving, provided essential food supplies and cooked meals to the villagers. Going beyond immediate relief efforts, NHSD collaborated with the community to construct 130 sturdy concrete homes, 5 schools, 5 vocational training centers and 5 dispensaries. The installation of solar powered electricity brought a transformative change. Kim Chand's children embraced education, his family accessed healthcare at the local dispensary, and his wife and sisters found purpose in crafting quality goods at the training center. The burden of financial strain lifted, paving the way for a brighter future. Kim Chand now stands as a beacon of hope and resilience in his community.

- **RESPONDING TO CYCLONE BIPARJOY:** In June of 2023, the coastal region of Sindh, Pakistan, experienced the devastating impact of the Biparjoy Cyclone. Around 70,000 individuals were relocated to 51 relief camps in safe locations. Among them was Muhammad Hakim, a 40-year-old resident of Keti Bandar who arrived at a relief camp in Thatta district with his wife and children. Hakim expressed his concerns about the potential loss of their belongings in their home. He shared his worries about the uncertainty of rebuilding their house if it was destroyed, as they had left everything behind in the face of the storm.
 
 “We came here with nothing, filled with fear about our future. We had to abandon our homes due to the storm's threat, but now we are left wondering where to go and what to do” lamented Hakim. 
 
 However, the prayers and struggles of Hakim and other fishermen like him did not go unheard. NHSD visited Keti Bandar and, with the support of donations from King Baudouin Foundation, and Global Giving, distributed food supplies and cooked meals to the community. Their timely assistance arrived when hope was fading.
