"She walked six hours through floodwater — not for herself, but to get her baby checked." This is the reality for thousands of mothers across flood-affected Pakistan today!

THE CRISIS-WOMEN AND CHILDREN PAYING THE HEAVIEST PRICE!

Pakistan's floods have not just destroyed homes and harvests, they have shattered the health and dignity of an entire generation of women and children. In the districts of JalalPur, Buner, AliPur Pir Wala, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin, floodwaters have receded, but the devastation they left behind remains invisible to most of the world.Clinics are submerged. Roads are broken. Medicines have run out. The people who need the healthcare the most are pregnant mothers, newborns and young children. They have been abandoned by the very systems that were meant to protect them.Pregnant women are delivering babies in flooded mud homes, with no skilled birth attendant, no clean water, and no medicines.Children are drinking contaminated floodwater — the only water available — leading to explosive outbreaks of cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea.Mothers who lost everything are showing signs of severe psychological trauma, depression, and grief — with no one to turn to.Un-diagnosed Hepatitis C, Diabetes, and Hypertension are silently killing women who have never had a single blood test in their lives.Malnutrition is spreading among children under five, as food stocks were swept away by floodwaters.Eye infections and respiratory diseases are rampant in temporary shelters packed with displaced families.

NHSD'S PLAN OF ACTION

In JalalPur, we will run 10 camps to address severe riverine flooding that has created high maternal mortality risk, waterborne disease outbreaks, and near-total loss of access to obstetric care. In Buner, 10 camps will reach remote mountain communities that have been cut off by landslides, where children are facing acute malnutrition and health infrastructure has all collapsed. In AliPur Pir Wala, 10 camps will serve women-headed households in an agricultural heartland that has been destroyed, where Hepatitis C and Diabetes are going entirely undetected. In Sialkot, 10 camps will bridge the urban-rural divide that is leaving displaced communities without any care, as respiratory infections spread rapidly through overcrowded shelters. Finally, in Mandi Bahauddin, 10 camps will respond to flash flood damage that has wiped out primary health centers, leaving communities with rampant psychological trauma, eye infections, and skin diseases. Each of NHSD's 50 medical camps is a full-scale healthcare event, not just a tent with a doctor. It is designed to address every invisible wound physical, reproductive, and psychological that flood-affected women and children are silently carrying.
