In Uganda, the struggle for women’s rights is more critical than ever. Gender-based violence (GBV) remains pervasive 56% of women aged 15 to 49 have experienced physical violence at least once in their lifetime. From domestic abuse to sexual assault, child marriage, and economic exploitation, countless women and girls live under constant threat. For many, the violence is ongoing, robbing them of dignity, freedom, and the chance to thrive. One in five girls is married before age 18, and rates worsen in regions affected by poverty and conflict.

Yet, amid this crisis, resilience shines. Women and girls stand strong, demanding change, refusing to remain invisible. GBV is not merely a women’s issue—it is a societal crisis requiring collective action. As Nelson Mandela said, “To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity.” an evident denial, but so is hope.
