Dear Friends,

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the joy of fostering a litter of incredible neonatal kittens and their mama. Three of the kittens, Athena, Zeus and Venus, have cerebellar hyperplasia (CH).

CH is a neurological condition that affects motor skills and balance, but it doesn't diminish these kittens' capacity for a full life. While their needs may be considered "special," we know they’re simply the unique needs they deserve to have met, to be able to thrive; CH cats don't know that they're different - they've never known life any other way.

Caring for special needs pets is not just worthwhile—it’s essential. Special needs pets often require more time, accommodations, and resources, and this is what we're hoping to normalize in sharing their stories.

The spirit of BUB is always at the center of our work; we believe that pets like Athena, Zeus and Venus deserve the best start in life. Providing them with the necessary care not only helps them but it also allows the landscape for special needs pets to change. At Lil BUB's Big FUND, we’re committed to protecting the human-animal bond, especially for the most vulnerable among us.

It’s important to recognize that conditions like CH don’t exist in a vacuum. Investing more resources in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinations can prevent CH and other issues, creating healthier communities for all cats. By supporting special needs pets, we aim to address these intersectional issues that truly affect all companion animals.

Today, we're raising funds for special needs pets in need. As always, we understand that not everyone can donate, and that's okay as it's never expected.
