Garrett, Chewy, Theo, Spike and Lil Bit Need Your Help!
For World Animal Day, we're fundraising for a great rescue who needs our help. Any contribution helps; we can't do this work without you.
The Little Black Dog Rescue Group's mission is to rescue and re-home abused or neglected animals while expanding access to communities traditionally shut out of animal rescue work. We particularly love taking in senior and special needs animals as these guys have the most difficulty finding homes. We currently have a few dogs in our care with special needs who would benefit greatly from any contributions.
Primarily we have Garrett - an amazing dog who has been with us for nearly 1.5 years but has had trouble finding a family due to a medical condition. Poor Garrett was confined to a crate for most of his pre-TLBD life, and his hips were unable to develop fully. When he first came to us, Garrett could barely walk but with physical therapy and a lot of love, he has been able to build up those hip muscles and get moving. He will still require surgery later in life that could amount to nearly $10,000. We have set up a trust that will go with Garrett to his forever home, and we are hopeful that we can finally find him a home in providing for his surgery financially!
Additionally, our adorable pup Theo would benefit greatly from any contribution to his care as he is 100% deaf. We have an incredible potential adopter for Theo, who is deaf herself and had previously trained deaf dogs with sign language, but she resides in Ontario, Canada. Any contribution to TLBD would also go towards getting Mr Theo to the home he deserves with this amazing adopter!
Finally, we have our Senior Pups. We love senior pups at TLBD, but they all come with various medical needs. Chewy, Spike, and Lil Bit have been with us for a while now, and while we have a few promising applications coming in, we have yet to find them homes. We hope a contribution from Lil Bub's Big Fund would allow us to cover much-needed medical procedures for these little guys and get them into loving homes!
