On May 13, 2025, unprecedented rainfall led to severe flash floods in Western Maryland. Westernport Elementary School was inundated, with water breaching the second floor, necessitating the evacuation of approximately 150 students and 50 staff members by boat. The town's downtown area was submerged for the first time in decades, transforming streets into rivers and leaving homes and businesses coated in mud.
As a Maryland-based company, LifeStraw is deeply committed to the well-being of our local communities. The recent catastrophic flooding in Allegany and Garrett Counties has struck at the heart of our home state.
Residents are grappling with the loss of basic necessities, including access to safe drinking water. Contaminated water sources pose a significant health risk, compounding the challenges faced by these communities.
LifeStraw is mobilizing to provide immediate assistance. We are sending a team to the affected areas to coordinate with local partners and distribute water filters to affected families, ensuring they have access to safe drinking water during this critical time.
We need your support to make this possible.
Your donation to LifeStraw’s Safe Water Fund will directly aid in providing emergency water filtration systems to flood-affected households. These filters will ensure long-term access to safe water as communities rebuild.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference in the lives of those impacted. Please join us in bringing relief to our neighbors in Western Maryland.
100% of donated funds go toward the cost of products and distribution of supplies. Vestergaard Frandsen, Inc. (d/b/a “LifeStraw”) does not profit from your donation.
