In the 81 years since our founding, the goal of the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society (Indy Legal Aid) has remained constant: to provide consultation, education, advice, and representation across a wide range of legal issues, most frequently in the areas of housing, guardianship, adoption, and family law. Indy Legal Aid provides legal assistance that benefit the most vulnerable members of the Central Indiana community: the elderly and persons with a physical and/or mental disability, children and their caretakers, and low-income individuals who otherwise would not receive legal help.

Since 1941, the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society has relentlessly provided our most vulnerable Hoosiers with direct and immediate access to comprehensive free legal assistance in civil matters. We restore hope as we work with our clients side-by-side to resolve their legal issues. In doing so, we help to promote economic self-sufficiency, preserve dignity, and strengthen our neighborhoods and communities.
