The Safe Future Project: A Space to Grow, Learn, and Lead

Help Us Build the IECI Multipurpose Community Centre in Uganda

The Safe Futures Project is a community-led initiative to build a permanent Multipurpose Community Centre for children and youth in Uganda. Designed as a hub for learning, wellbeing, and opportunity, the centre will provide access to education, health services, mental health support, and entrepreneurship training in one safe and accessible space.

The centre will offer engaging learning programmes that foster creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills beyond the traditional classroom. Dedicated spaces will provide sexual and reproductive health education, counselling, and mental wellbeing support—services that remain largely inaccessible to many young people in the community. Workshop and training areas will host financial literacy programmes, entrepreneurship boot camps, and startup incubation activities, equipping youth with the knowledge and confidence to create sustainable livelihoods. Open community spaces will encourage collaboration, idea-sharing, and connections to local and global opportunities.

This project serves a community where educational resources are limited, healthcare services are inadequate, mental health support is scarce, and unemployment among young people remains high. Yet these same young people possess enormous potential to transform their lives and contribute meaningfully to their communities. The centre is being built to provide the environment, resources, and support they need to thrive.

Construction is already in progress. The project has successfully completed land acquisition, site preparation, foundation works, and slab construction, with walls now rising across multiple sections of the building. Significant progress has been made, but additional support is needed to bring the centre to completion.

Every contribution moves the project forward. Donations help purchase construction materials and keep skilled workers on site. Larger contributions can equip classrooms, health spaces, and entrepreneurship training areas, while major investments can fund entire sections of the facility. Donations of building materials, furniture, and equipment are also welcomed and will be put to immediate use.
