An organization providing human & animal services by offering support for people's pets. It received its nonprofit status in 2023.
At HAPI, we envision a world where no pet owner lives in fear of losing their beloved pets due to lack of resources.
Our mission is to keep pets with their families and out of shelters by providing necessary support to their humans. HAPI offers services through outreach, clinics, and events. HAPI partners with local support organizations to supplement the services they offer. We provide vaccines, microchipping and registration, personalized id tags, grooming, food, collars, leashes as well as other supplies. We also offer advise and support to pet parents.
With your support, we can continue to offer these much needed services and expand our offerings to include veterinary care.

Help HAPI Vaccinate and Feed Houseless Pets
Human and Pet Initiative (HAPI) exists because without them, pets starve and die and epidemics go unchecked . Outreach teams sometimes arrive to find someone clutching a dying dog, begging for help, with no real alternatives—systems require time and steps neither the person nor the dog has. HAPI serves far beyond any single route across Oakland, caring for dogs in tents, motels, and transitional housing, vaccinating at scale, and reducing deadly outbreaks like parvo. Right now, HAPI is struggling to keep operating—quietly paying for dog food out of pocket and caring for sick puppies at home—just so dogs don’t starve and die. The goal is $10,000. Monthly donors are especially appreciated.
