While GiveWell's selection criteria are somewhat subjective, the objectivity by which they evaluate nonprofit bang for your buck is inspiring.

Giving back is a core value of ours. We understand just how fortunate we've been to have had good health and our basic needs met throughout our lives. As a result, we created this fundraiser so that our special day can also have a positive impact on others around the world who need help.

We have no expectations for gifts or contributions from any of our guests, but if you would like to you can donate to this fundraiser here. All funds will go to [Givewell's Top Charities Fund.](https://www.givewell.org/top-charities-fund) Givewell is an organization that conducts rigorous research into the impact that various charities make. We find Peter Singer's arguments around Effective Altruism to be persuasive and are confident that Givewell's Top Charities Fund does an excellent job of maximizing the impact that each dollar donated can have.

Thank you for any and all donations, and thank you again for being a part of our special day!

Pallavi & Greg's Wedding - Givewell's Top Charities Fund

GiveWell has assembled a world-class set of researchers to find the charities on Earth that do the most good per dollar. While "good" can mean many things — and individuals involved with the GiveWell community write many essays exploring this in more depth — the organization is one of the great projects in applied social science.

How much has GiveWell found (on average) it costs to save a life, for its most cost-effective charities? **$3,000-$5,500.** To explain how this happens, take the case of preventative malaria treatments in a country like Nigeria. A full five-month cycle of treatment for a child costs less than $10. With that money, workers on the ground can distribute around 500 of these treatments. Of those 500 children given treatment, on average, one fewer child dies each year.

In honor of our wedding, it would be very special to us if our guests would consider giving to the GiveWell Top Charities Fund.

GiveWell Top Charities

We (Ty and Samantha) feel incredibly blessed with so many opportunities in our lives, including the opportunity to be together.

That blessing includes many things a lot of the world still goes without, like clean water, basic medicine, and enough food. As we celebrate being together, we wanted to do something that reflects our commitment to being a good neighbor and caring partner to the people on this planet.

That's why we're asking for donations to GiveWell instead of wedding gifts.

GiveWell obsesses over evidence, spending thousands of hours vetting programs so they can support the ones proven to save or improve lives at the lowest possible cost per person helped.

Rather than betting on a single cause, your gift funds a portfolio of GiveWell's Top Charities, including proven programs like malaria prevention, vitamin A supplementation, and vaccines, so your donation reaches as many people as possible, as effectively as possible.

Thank you for helping our celebration produce joy not just in Boston, but around the world.

Love, Multiplied: Ty & Samantha's Wedding Fundraiser

The Top Charities Fund supports the highest-priority funding needs among our top charities.

We find and recommend outstanding giving opportunities and publish our research to help donors give more effectively and with greater confidence.

All donations here support our Top Charities Fund. Donations to the Top Charities Fund are granted on a rolling basis to support cost-effective funding opportunities at our top charities. We use our latest research to grant the funds to the top charity (or charities) where we believe they’ll do the most good.

Prevention, control and treatment of malaria and other communicable diseases among vulnerable populations.

Malaria Consortium US, Inc. (MC-US) is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity and shares the mission of Malaria Consortium, a globally recognized organization committed to reducing deaths and illnesses caused by malaria and other preventable and treatable diseases across Africa and Asia.

Our mission is to save lives and improve health in Africa and Asia through evidence-based programs that tackle malaria and other priority diseases while advancing universal health coverage (UHC). In the US, we build partnerships with foundations, donors, and philanthropic organizations to ensure that every contribution makes a lasting impact for those most in need.

As a leader in malaria control and elimination, our work focuses on interventions such as seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), malaria vaccines, disease surveillance, and integrated child health services. We work in collaboration with governments, communities, and health systems to improve access to essential healthcare and strengthen delivery of services in underserved and hard-to-reach areas.

As a leader in interventions such as chemoprevention and vector control, we rely on evidence and our expertise to deliver established interventions, influence other effective interventions and guide new strategies to reduce the burden of malaria, pneumonia, dengue, malnutrition and diarrhea. We work with communities and all levels of the health system to improve access to and demand for primary healthcare services and overall quality of care.

Our tailored interventions seek to improve equity by providing quality, affordable health services to marginalized populations (particularly women and girls and those living in hard-to-reach areas). To ensure barriers to achieving UHC are addressed and to encourage sustainability, we work closely with governments to integrate our programs within existing health systems and structures in the countries in which we work.

We promote disease surveillance as a core intervention to engage communities to improve the quality and accessibility of routine health information by using digital tools and approaches that strengthen the linkages between case-level data and national health information systems. We combine capacity development at community level with the use of innovative tools and platforms to enhance local capabilities to interpret and use these data most effectively.

All of our work is informed by our core values: accountability, integrity, dignity and equity.

One of GiveWell's top charities for the past several years, AMF provides anti-malarial bednets to people in need.

From Givewell:
What do they do? AMF (againstmalaria.com) provides funding for long-lasting insecticide-treated net (LLIN) distributions (for protection against malaria) in developing countries. (More)

Does it work? There is strong evidence that distributing LLINs reduces child mortality and malaria cases. AMF conducts post-distribution surveys of completed distributions to determine whether LLINs have reached their intended destinations and how long they remain in good condition. AMF's post-distribution surveys have generally found positive results but have some methodological limitations. (More)

What do you get for your dollar? We estimate that the cost to purchase and distribute an AMF-funded net is $4.95, or $4.65 excluding in-kind contributions from governments. The numbers of deaths averted and other benefits of distributing LLINs are a function of a number of difficult-to-estimate factors, which we discuss in detail below. (More)

Is there room for more funding? We believe that AMF is likely to be constrained by funding. We estimate that AMF could use up to an additional $37.8 million to support LLIN distributions that will occur between now and late 2023.

AMF is recommended because of its:

Focus on a program with excellent evidence of effectiveness and cost-effectiveness.
Processes for ensuring that nets reach their intended recipients and monitoring whether they remain in homes and in good condition over the long-term.
Room for more funding – we believe AMF will be able to use additional funds to deliver additional nets.
Transparency – AMF shares significant information about its work with us and we are able to closely follow and understand its work.

Helen Keller, our co-founder, envisioned a world without barriers to human potential. We are continuing her work.

Helen Keller, our co-founder, envisioned a world without barriers to human potential. Guided by her fierce optimism, we have been working on the front lines of health and well-being for more than 100 years. We deliver life-changing health care to vulnerable families in places where the need is great, but access is limited. Our proven, science-based programs empower people to create opportunities in their own lives.

We provide cash incentives for childhood vaccinations. It’s one of the most cost-effective ways known to save lives.

New Incentives’ mission is to save lives in a way that does the **most good per dollar**.
Guided by evidence, we provide cash incentives to increase childhood vaccination rates.

- We [raise awareness](https://www.newincentives.org/blog-posts/awareness-activities) about the benefits of childhood vaccinations.
- We [provide cash incentives](https://www.newincentives.org/blog-posts/a-day-in-the-life-abubakar-aliyu-field-officer) at government clinics after children receive vaccinations.
- We [help improve the vaccine supply chain](https://www.newincentives.org/blog-posts/supporting-government-partners-with-vaccine-supply-efforts) to ensure enough vaccines are available at clinics.

Together, these efforts are proven to double vaccination rates and save lives.

As of March 2024, New Incentives has reached more the 3 million infants in northern Nigeria.
