Experiment Foundation

The Experiment Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding how science gets funded.

We support early-stage ideas, unconventional approaches, and emerging fields that fall outside the boundaries of traditional grantmaking. Through small, fast, trust-based funding, we help researchers and builders explore new directions before they are fully proven, and when the potential for discovery is highest.

Our work builds on the platform of Experiment, the world’s largest science crowdfunding site, and extends it with new models of philanthropic funding. We partner with foundations, companies, and individual donors to run challenge grants, support scientific communities, and test new ways of allocating capital to science.

At its core, the Experiment Foundation is an engine for experimentation in science funding itself. Our model is designed to surface new ideas, new people, and new fields.
