Every Kid in Class Deserves a Connection with Nature

The We Are Earth Friends program is a framework of 5 life-affirming learning modules in which young children build a foundation for understanding all life and all systems on our planet. The program aligns with early childhood curriculum and is most effective when taught consecutively from preschool to first grade, each year allowing children and teachers to scaffold the learning and activities.

Cultivating a love of where we live, an understanding of how we live, and an awareness of who we live with builds a bridge between the natural environment and the (human) built environment. Research shows that connecting children to nature, giving them time outside, increasing social emotional literacy, and preparing them for elementary years is key to their health, happiness, and well-being. This life-affirming foundation of learning will be a necessity for our coming generations and the collective ecological and humanitarian challenges they will face. 

Earth Friends aims to grow its impact by sponsoring 100 preschool to first grade classrooms across The United States by the start of the 2026-2026 school year with the complete We Are Earth Friends program. Your donation is the only way we can reach our goal.

When we are able to create positive change in 100+ classrooms, we can begin to work toward our goal of We Are Earth Friends in 1,000 classrooms, then 10,000, and one day celebrate building this life-affirming foundation for over one million young children.
