Dreamers Wish Foundation is making a transformative impact in the lives of economically disadvantaged K-12 students in Ghana and Kenya through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. By creating opportunities for hands-on learning, critical thinking, and innovation, we have empowered over 2,000 children and made strides in improving educational infrastructure, including refurbishing over 15 classrooms and establishing a STEAM lab. These initiatives equip students with essential skills, enabling them to rise above their circumstances and thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Our work, however, is not without challenges. Rural communities in Ghana and Kenya face substantial barriers, with over 40% of families living in poverty. Many schools lack basic infrastructure, such as electricity, making access to modern learning tools nearly impossible. Teacher shortages and deficiencies in training further limit the quality of education, while cultural and socioeconomic barriers disproportionately affect girls and marginalized groups. Moreover, limited access to technology and insufficient government funding exacerbate the gap in educational opportunities for these underserved regions.
Despite these hurdles, donor support has enabled us to address critical needs, such as providing over 400 hygiene kits, which have led to a 20% increase in attendance among girls, and delivering desks, books, and teacher ICT training to improve learning outcomes. Additionally, our provision of desks, books, and teacher ICT training has improved overall learning conditions and fostered a 25% increase in school attendance.
These improvements are pivotal in creating sustainable educational growth and opportunities for the communities we serve. With your contributions, we can continue overcoming these barriers by expanding access to STEAM resources, upgrading infrastructure, and empowering teachers. Together, we can bridge the gap in educational equity, fostering a future where every child, regardless of their circumstances, has the opportunity to succeed.
