🚗🐾 Bondo’s Freedom Ride & Next Steps 🐾🚗
Bondo’s life has been saved. After nearly 3 months confined as a “court case” dog, it was wonderful to watch him finally roll in the grass and enjoy some freedom again.
Watch: Bondo's Reunion with Grass & Fresh Air
While Bondo is now safe, the future remains uncertain.
Just as we reached the finish line for his release, Bill became seriously ill and was hospitalized. Thankfully, he is recovering and is relieved that Bondo is safe.
After discussions with Coco’s Cupboard Rescue — who generously put their license on the line to save Bondo — we decided reunification is not something we can safely pursue right now given Bill’s current health and mobility.
Right now:
• Bill needs to focus on healing
• Bondo needs training and structure around other dogs
The good news is that Bondo is in an incredible place with Coco’s Cupboard, Tails of Hope, and Tao Training & Boarding.
Donated funds will continue helping Bondo, including a large secure outdoor enclosure so he can enjoy sunshine, exercise, and enrichment while continuing training.
Our team plans to continue visiting Bondo — and hopefully bring Bill along when his health allows.
Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, advocated, and cared so deeply about these two. We’ll continue to keep you updated. 💛

🎉 Wonderful news: Bondo’s life is no longer on the line. 🎉
On Saturday, I'll drive Bondo to @CocosCupboard rescue, where he’ll be safely housed, decompress, and receive training. [Yes, pictures will come!]
If you’re not familiar with this incredible rescue, please check out their videos — we truly believe this is the perfect place for Bondo to heal and reset.

Our veteran friend Bill is relieved and grateful for this outcome, and right now his focus is getting well. Please keep him in your thoughts and send healing vibes his way. 💛
We are grateful to DeKalb County, Meriwether County, and LifeLine Animal Project for working with us to create a path forward for Bondo.
Mostly, we're eternally grateful to Coco's for being willing to stand with us to save Bondo. We look forward to partnering with them!

🙏 SEND POSITIVE VIBES! 🍀
Today, we’re asking everyone to put their prayers, good juju, positive thoughts, and good luck charms to work for Bondo and Bill. 💛
We have a rescue offer for Bondo, and the DeKalb Solicitor’s office has indicated they are supportive of the transfer. However, DeKalb Animal Services says they also need approval from the county Bondo would temporarily move to — Meriwether County.
We are waiting on their decision today.
Meanwhile, Bill has been hospitalized with pneumonia. He sent this message:
“Well thank you Jamie and Doggie Harmony and all the loving members for saving a life. BONDO is everything that is love. I love him so much. I've been more sick since he's been gone. But now I feel there's a chance. No matter what happens thank you.”
[5/8/26 UPDATE]
🚨 MAJOR ROADBLOCK 🚨
On Tuesday, it appeared our plan to temporarily place Bondo with a qualified rescue for one month — while Bill’s move was finalized — was feasible and under consideration.
Yesterday, the DeKalb County Animal Enforcement Director informed us that Bondo CANNOT be temporarily placed with a rescue group OR a board-and-train facility.
This was unexpected and seems to conflict with what Bill (and neighbor Lynn) understood in court from the Assistant Solicitor General. We are now seeking clarification through those channels.
The good news: shelter management has been sympathetic and appreciative of the efforts to help Bill & Bondo, and we are hopeful euthanasia will continue to be delayed while we work to better understand their rights and options.
If anyone has experience, legal insight, or advice regarding dangerous animal cases and temporary placement options, please reach out.
We’ll continue to keep everyone updated and plan to return funds if they are not used towards Bondo. 💛

Keep Up the Positive Vibes, Y'all!
- Bill's awesome neighbor has been visiting Bondo to keep his spirits up.
- Dekalb County has been patient in allowing us to work Plan A. We are mitigating which rescue can meet the requirements to temp house Bando.
- Insurance options available and being compared.
- Rental properties with fences available and we're working on applications.
Needs:
- If anyone owns rental homes in Dekalb County, or knows someone who would be willing to work with our situation - please do route our way (jamie@doggieharmony.org).
- If anyone can help get Bill to properties in order to view them, please let us know.
Thanks again for everyone's support!
[5/4/26 UPDATE]
Wow — just WOW! Thank you all for rallying so quickly for Bill & Bondo. 💛
- No major change yet, but DeKalb County Animal Services is open to exploring solutions
- Plan A: Temporary placement with a rescue (pending county approval)
- At the same time, we’re working on Bill’s permanent housing plan.
Meanwhile, YOU may be able to help! Know of a one-story rental in DeKalb County with:
- A fenced yard (or ability to install one — we’ll keep fundraising to cover it)
- Acceptance of HUD-VASH vouchers
- Please message us directly — personal connections could make all the difference.
Please Know: Bill already had a note from his psychologist confirming Bondo is an emotional support animal who 'helps him mitigate symptoms of his disability.' 💛
We’ll keep sharing updates and working backup plans.
Thank you for showing up for them!

[Original Post]
Bondo is scheduled to be euthanized on May 6th. We are trying to save him and keep him with his owner, a U.S. veteran who raised him since puppyhood.
Bondo is his emotional support companion and Bill’s only family. He was involved in an isolated incident (bit person trying to break up a scuffle) after he accidentally slipped loose—but now he and Bill are facing a devastating outcome.
We have a plan in place, including new housing available June 1st… but we are out of time.
We are raising $3,000 to save Bondo. This includes cost to house dog during Bill’s move, fencing + pen and specialty insurance (to meet GA legal/safety requirements), and shelter housing fees ($1000).
Please donate if you can
Please share everywhere
Bondo still has a chance—but only if we act now.
