Our programs
- Anand Daan: 30.3% households headed by senior citizens in rural areas are poor. Whereas in urban areas, 20% of such households are poor. Dignity Foundation identifies those who are genuinely needy in the slum communities across six cities and their rural outskirts and provides monthly ration kits to them.
- Dementia Day Care Centers: Dementia day care centers provide a safe and stimulating environment for people living with Dementia, helping to maintain their cognitive function and improve their quality of life. These centers also offer crucial respite for caregivers, reducing their physical and emotional stress. We operate such specialized dementia care centers for senior citizens in 5 cities – Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, New Delhi and Kolkata. At our centers, members receive compassionate care by trained caregivers along with therapies to delay the progression of Dementia.

- Dignity Dialogue Magazine for elderly: Since 1995 to date, Dignity Dialogue has been the first and leading monthly magazine dedicated to the promotion of productive ageing through sharing of inspiring stories, ideas, thought leadership and infotainment. Dignity Dialogue, being India’s longest-running senior citizen magazine in publication, has inspired many readers to hone their amateur skills and become professionals like photographers, travel writers, stage actors, etc. With topics ranging from travel, health, money to Bollywood and humor, Dignity Dialogue has it all. Dignity Dialogue magazine gave birth to Dignity Foundation which is spearheading eldercare services for senior citizens in India. Through the feedback of readers, our Founder President Dr. Sheilu Sreenivasan learned about the real and unique challenges faced by senior citizens. This inspired her to start and run a non-profit solely dedicated to the empowerment of elders.

Food Security for The Elderly
Rangubai Mule is a 66-year-old woman who lives in a small, one-room house allotted to her by MHADA. She has a BP problem and joint pain but there is no one to look after her. She cannot work regularly because of her health issues. She occasionally works as help in homes nearby but does not earn enough for even two meals a day.* She gets by on a meagre monthly pay of about Rs. 1500.She was referred to Dignity Foundation and their social workers visited her home and evaluated her living conditions. She was then added to their monthly ration program. She now receives rations free of cost every month from the Foundation. She has spent all her life working and does so whenever she can till date. But she no longer has to constantly worry about how she will be able to earn a day’s meals. This has taken a load off her mind and she can now afford to rest, take care of her health and live a life suitable for an elderly citizen. A donation from you could help someone like Rangubai with food and basic expenses. The population of senior citizens is increasing as life expectancy is increasing. Families in urban areas are becoming nuclear and smaller, as a result of which there are fewer people available in the house to provide care and comfort to the ageing. Due to the increase in number of the elderly population their needs and problems are increasing too. There are many senior citizens who are without any financial support and are living below the poverty line. There are senior citizens with small pensions but most of it goes for medical treatment and hardly anything is left for nutritional support. For such needy senior citizens, Dignity Foundation has started Ration Service. The needy elderly are given dry rations for sustenance every month. The senior citizens are then tracked through home visits. The elderly deserve dignity in their last days and a little support can help them with the dignity they deserve.
