Quality Education for underprivileged communities

Data from national assessments like the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) reveal that a significant proportion of children in rural India, struggle with foundational skills in reading and basic math. Students from marginalized communities and lower-income families are particularly affected,

Research has shown that early foundational skills in literacy and numeracy form the bedrock for future learning. When children fall behind at early stages, they are more likely to remain behind, leading to dropouts and further educational inequalities. All of us value education highly as a path to better economic opportunities. However, without addressing basic literacy and numeracy skills, students are often unable to compete effectively in higher education or the job market.

The ALfA( Accelerated Learning For ALL) pedagogy developed by DEVI is a ground-breaking pedagogy that transforms teaching and learning processes, shifting from teacher-led to child-led interactions, where students learn collaboratively in pairs. Teachers play an essential role as Galvanizers, using specially designed study materials for interactive learning. This approach has led to a fast-tracked and holistic Foundational Learning in Numeracy (FLN) along with 21 st century skills, reducing the learning period to 45 school days, as opposed to the typical three years. Notably, in many countries, even after five years of foundational skill teaching, a significant number of children cannot read with understanding.

ALfA has rapidly expanded, including Memorandum of Understanding with governments of Uttar Pradesh for 15 districts and Himachal Pradesh state-wide, totaling 14,000 schools. The program's successful reach extends beyond India,evidenced by a UNICEF-supported pilot in the Maldives, showcasing its potential for global application. The program is backed by 22 years of rigorous research and 8 years of active fieldresearch and large-scale implementation.

Impact numbers since 2014 ;

14000 government schools have implemented ALfA FLN program with doubling of student reading and numeracy levels.

● 500,000 school children have used Global Dream FLN toolkits to teach an illiterate learner in their locality.
