The **MISKA** model, developed by CONEXIÓN, activates community processes that strengthen local capacities, revitalize territorial memory, and promote opportunities for rural youth and women.

Through participatory methodologies and gastronomy as a meeting point, MISKA generates conditions for local empowerment, fosters leadership, and connects knowledge that contributes to more resilient, inclusive, and living territories.

**This video presents how CONEXIÓN implements MISKA alongside communities in Guatemala and Mesoamerica.**

The MISKA model, developed by CONEXIÓN

Creates opportunities for rural youth in Guatemala, empowering women and promoting sustainable, inclusive growth.

**CONEXIÓN** creates opportunities together with rural communities in Guatemala, recognizing women and youth as key actors for sustainable development. Through our regional programs —**Youth & Resilient Bioeconomies** and **Vuela Libre**— we work to **reduce inequalities and generate better life opportunities** for vulnerable people and communities across Latin America.

Our work focuses on co-creating and implementing **innovative social impact models** with local partners, scaling community-based solutions that respond to the shared challenges of rural territories.

🍲 **The MISKA Schools: Gastronomy and Entrepreneurship with Identity**

At the heart of our innovation lies the **MISKA Schools**, a model of social transformation that uses **gastronomy and entrepreneurship** as tools to connect identity, economy, and sustainability. MISKA (meaning *flavor* or *mixture* in Quechua) transforms traditional cooking into a space for **learning, cultural pride, and economic empowerment**.

The schools operate in three complementary modalities —**fixed**, **itinerant**, and **mobile**— allowing us to reach diverse territories and adapt to local contexts.
Through these formats, MISKA strengthens the skills of young people and women in **sustainable gastronomy, agroecology, and hospitality**, promoting community-led businesses that protect biodiversity, celebrate culture and generate dignified livelihoods, linking food systems with environmental stewardship and market opportunities.

The MISKA model has inspired a growing movement across Guatemala and Mesoamerica —a network of young chefs, producers, and entrepreneurs who are proving that **preserving culture and biodiversity can go hand in hand with creating dignified livelihoods**.

**With your donation, you help strengthen the roots of change.**

Your support allows CONEXIÓN to expand the MISKA Gastronomy Schools and other community initiatives that train young people and women, promote sustainable entrepreneurship, and protect the cultural and natural richness of our territories.
Together, we build resilient communities that preserve life, culture, and biodiversity — creating opportunities where hope grows. 🌿
