Our mission is to protect vulnerable children in the family court system and to advocate for judicial accountability.
The Center for Judicial Excellence (CJE) is a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit organization based in San Rafael, California. Our mission is to protect vulnerable children in the family court system and to strengthen the integrity of all courts by creating judicial accountability. Founded in May of 2006, we’ve spent more than a decade empowering family court survivors and their children, exposing the systemic failures in our courts, and educating the media, state and federal lawmakers, and the public about the need for major reforms.
The organization’s strength is rooted in its unique mix of public education, media advocacy and legislative advocacy. Our ability to expose court failures and push for judicial accountability through the media has connected us with court survivors and lawmakers, who in turn have driven meaningful state policy reforms of the judiciary. The Center has been especially effective at working to protect the rights of children whose parents are going through divorce, and the organization has been in the forefront of exposing a national crisis in the family court system that is harming millions of innocent children.
CJE relies solely on financial support from private individuals to fund our advocacy for child safety as the first priority in family court and judicial excellence in the face of widespread judicial corruption across the United States.

Center for Judicial Excellence Winter Giving 2021
At the Center for Judicial Excellence, as we reflect on the winter holidays that are upon us, we are proud of the impact we’ve created together in 2021. Yet we know that for so many children forced into contact with their abusers with no way of being heard, and the heartbreaking anguish of protective parents who cannot see or protect their kids from harm, this can be an especially painful time of year.
This season, for the 815+ children whose lives were taken, forever leaving an empty chair at their families’ holiday dinner tables; for the countless children suffering in court-ordered abusive custody who will not be safe this season, and the many others whose suffering and trauma persist into young adulthood, years after the court system that was supposed to protect them betrayed them--for them--we ask you to please help us continue to educate the public to the true horrors of what’s been happening in family courts for years. With your financial support, we can launch our new child survivor-led youth advocacy program and continue to build our community education campaigns, our federal and state legislative advocacy, and our one-on-one work with litigants across the U.S. who reach out daily seeking resources and support as they navigate the family courts.
