Protect Childhoods. Stop Child Labour.

Summer holidays bring joy to children across the country. But for many underprivileged children, this break can mark the beginning of something far more serious. What starts as “just a holiday job” often turns into a permanent dropout, costing them their childhood and future.

Like it almost did for Bavishya.

She loved school so much that every year, before leaving for the holidays, she would say goodbye to her school and was always excited to come back as it reopened. But one summer, everything changed. Her school was shut down for highway construction, and her parents, who were the daily wage earners, were struggling. With no school to return to, she had to help earn for the family, and just like that, her dreams were almost lost.

Thankfully, CRY stepped in, and the partners reached out, counselled her parents, connected them to government schemes, and brought Bavishya to CRY's support classes. Soon, she was back in school. She studied hard, completed her education, and today, she’s a lab technician, supporting her family and inspiring others as a CRY volunteer.

This World Day Against Child Labour, let’s rewrite more stories like Bavishya.

Because it’s education, not labour, that shapes a child’s future.
