Millions of community health workers (CHWs) globally—70% women—are not salaried, skilled, supervised, and supplied. As a result, one billion people will never see a health worker.
Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC) is working to make professional community health workers (proCHWs) the norm worldwide by changing guidelines, funding, and policy. We generate evidence to inform international norm setters, advocate to influence global financing institutions, and work alongside in-country CHW networks to win national policy change.
Founded in 2019, CHIC includes thousands of CHWs and dozens of global health organizations across 60+ countries. We are not building a single organization to scale. We exist to help the field change how it treats its frontline workforce.
We exist because community health workers work. Our vision is a world where CHWs are salaried, skilled, supervised, and supplied—and where quality care for all includes dignity and fairness for those who provide it.
