NAVYA: Reimagining the First Period Experience

For millions of girls in India, menstruation begins with confusion, fear, and silence. Many receive little or no information before their first period, leaving them unprepared to manage this important milestone with confidence and dignity. Misconceptions, stigma, and lack of access to menstrual hygiene products can negatively affect girls' health, self-esteem, school attendance, and overall well-being.

At Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3), we believe that every girl deserves a positive first-period experience. Through NAVYA, we provide young adolescent girls aged 11-13 with a thoughtfully designed First Menstruator Kit that combines menstrual hygiene products, age-appropriate educational resources, and guidance to help them understand and manage menstruation safely and confidently.

The kit is more than a collection of products - it is a tool for empowerment. It helps girls navigate puberty with accurate information, encourages open conversations about menstruation, and equips them to make informed choices about their health. By addressing both practical needs and social stigma, NAVYA supports girls in building confidence during a critical stage of adolescence.

Why Your Support Matters

Your support will help us: adolescent girls from underserved communities.

  • Provide First Menstruator Kits to adolescent girls from underserved communities.
  • Deliver menstrual health education sessions that dispel myths and misconceptions.
  • Equip girls with knowledge about their bodies, health, and hygiene.
  • Foster supportive environments where menstruation can be discussed openly and without shame.

The Impact of Your Support

  • Every NAVYA First Period Kit reaches one adolescent girl with essential menstrual hygiene resources and educational materials.
  • Each girl receives accurate, age-appropriate information on menstruation, puberty, and hygiene.
  • Girls gain the knowledge and confidence needed to manage their first periods safely and with dignity.
  • The program helps challenge menstrual stigma by engaging conversations within families, schools, and communities.
  • By supporting girls at the onset of menstruation, NAVYA contributes to improved health, self-esteem, and well-being during adolescence.

Every contribution helps ensure that a girl's first experience with menstruation is met with knowledge, support, and confidence - not fear or uncertainty.

Centre for Catalyzing Change (C3) empowers women and girls in India through education, health, leadership, and gender equality.
