My name is Dr. Umut Duygu Uzunel, and I am an ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience. Since 2014, I have volunteered across several African countries to make modern, sight-saving eye surgeries accessible to people who would otherwise remain blind.

From April 3 to April 13, 2026, I will be participating in a cataract surgery camp in Jinja, Uganda, with the goal of restoring sight to 150 patients.

The cost per cataract surgery is USD 200, which includes:

- Surgical materials and medical supplies
- One night of accommodation with three meals for 2 people (patient and a caregiver)

Transportation from rural areas for both 150 surgeries × USD 200 = USD 30,000

Additional funds will support my flight expenses, allowing me to reach the community and deliver this care.

OUR STORY

Embrace Relief has grown over the years and became an internationally recognized relief organization, which receives donations and support from people of various religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and works to bring relief to people of need regardless of race, religion or gender to improve their quality of life.
