The Benjamin Marshall Society is dedicated to educating the public on the life, works and legacy of architect, Benjamin H. Marshall (1874-1944) through lectures, tours, books, film, exhibits, exclusive visits private residences while including the historical architectural and cultural landscape of his day. 

Benjamin Howard Marshall was one of the giant "makers" of the city of Chicago, built most of East Lake Shore Drive, including the Drake Hotel. One of the giant "makers" of the city of Chicago, he was a visionary whose most iconic works stretched along the lakefront from the South Shore Cultural Center to the Edgewater Beach Hotel. Marshall overcame one of the worst disasters (the Iroquois Theater fire) in American history to become an architectural icon, and even celebrity, hosting at his glamorous Wilmette home President Hoover and even the Prince of Wales. Due to the passion and persistence for historic research of the Benjamin Marshall Society, Marshall's extraordinary story is still unfolding. Marshall stands out as one of Chicago's most relevant Beaux Arts architectural masters, designers, and creators of Chicago as a destination city.  To know Chicago history is to know American history and one of its most influential builders, Benjamin Marshall.
