Green Nutrition Mission in Manapparai Taluk Schools

In the dry belts of Tamil Nadu, farming is not just a livelihood—it’s survival. Many small farmers and landless laborers struggle with unpredictable rainfall, poor soil health, and limited income opportunities.

One farmer from Vaiyampatti recalls how chemical-heavy farming pushed him into debt. Through AHIMSA’s training in sustainable agriculture, he shifted to low-cost, natural farming methods. Today, his soil is healthier, his costs are lower, and his family has regained financial stability.

Similarly, women who once had no independent income are now part of self-help groups and skill development programs. With training in vocational skills and access to livelihoods, they are contributing to their households and gaining confidence and decision-making power.

School children are educated about the environment through school nutrition gardens, which also provide healthy food for their lunch.

These are not isolated stories—they reflect a broader transformation happening across rural communities.

AHIMSA is a Tamil Nadu NGO aiding marginalized farmers and laborers via agriculture, biodiversity, and empowerment.
