ArtReach takes visual arts education programs taught by professional artists into K-6 schools throughout San Diego County with an emphasis on offering free workshops to Title I schools with no existing art resources. To achieve this mission ArtReach: Provides professional artists as Teaching Artists, giving youngsters a rare opportunity to learn from a working artist. Offers a standards-based visual arts curriculum, including connections to Common Core and STEAM. Teaches students art vocabulary, and art making skills while giving them the opportunity to practice creative problem solving. Focuses on helping each student create original work. Uses visual art as a communication tool to help children learn about themselves, their peers and the community. Provides students the opportunity to create a successful, fulfilling piece of art, no matter what the medium. Helps children learn to work collaboratively in a fun, creative environment. Asks for participant feedback after every program. Partners with other visual arts organizations to make a variety of visual arts resources known to the community. Believes that visual art helps young people discover limitless possibilities. Continually raises funds via grants, sponsorships, individual donation and events in order to provide sequential art instruction in as many schools in need as possible each year.
