When disaster strikes, healthcare needs don’t end when the emergency does.
Lincoln County, New Mexico has endured devastating fires and flooding. Long after the immediate response, communities still face the harder question: How do we build a health system that is better prepared for what comes next?
The Alliance for Resilience in Healthcare is working with partners in New Mexico to help answer that question.
We are launching the first phase of the Lincoln County Community Health Resilience Project—a locally grounded effort to identify gaps in healthcare access and coordination, bring community and health partners together, and develop a long-term strategy for a stronger, more resilient local health system.
Our current work includes:
• Mapping healthcare resources, gaps, and local partners across Lincoln County
• Adapting our Community Health Resilience Assessment for the region
• Engaging healthcare providers, community organizations, and local leaders
• Developing a pathway for locally based health coordination in collaboration with the University of New Mexico’s Health Extension Regional Offices (HEROs)
• Building the foundation for longer-term implementation and investment
